ROPE•TALK: BDSM and the Vulnerability of Power: Heterosexual Dominant Men's Lived Experiences by Liv Friberg

Fri, 21 Aug, 17.00–18.30

What does a man who beats women, have in common with men who beat women? Nothing! Learn about the inner journey into vulnerability, presence and care that men who are introduced to BDSM as dominants experience. There is no pain, evil or emotional coldness in the whip. No, the whip, the rope and the hand are the culmination of a journey into sexual existence, curiosity towards the other and the intense presence that we all dream of. The study that you are about to hear about is a master's project in Sexology from Malmö University. I have done it in collaboration with the Nordic region's leading BDSM researcher, Charlotta Carlström, in connection with a larger project on BDSM at Malmö University. The study examines gender expression and experience in heterosexual, dominant BDSM-practicing men. The interview study focuses on how BDSM practitioners and masculinity create synergy with each other and how masculinity is understood and used in BDSM. About Liv Friberg: Midwife, Sexologist and Gender Researcher. After 15 years of clinical experience, I have entered the world of teaching, academia and research. TICKET PRICE DKK 150.- per person.
