Mezcal made from espadin is very often described as tequila's smokey cousin. Let's challenge that perception and explore how beautiful Espadin can be when done right, with true craft and intention put in to the production. Carl Wrangel and Jarek Modzelewski are the co-owners of The Barking Dog and Shoppen in Copenhagen, Denmark, two venues known for their deep love of agave spirits and hospitality. For more than a decade, they have worked to share and celebrate Mexican spirits culture in Scandinavia through tastings, education, thoughtful imports, and everyday service. With a genuine passion for mezcal, tequila, and the people behind them, their work is rooted in curiosity, respect, and long-term friendships within the agave community.
