SHUFFLE DANCE COURSE

SHUFFLE DANCE COURSE

Thu, 3 Sept, 19.30–21.30

Do you want to learn how to shuffle dance?

Shuffle is a high‑energy dance style focused on footwork, rhythm, and flow. We dance to electronic music such as house, EDM, and techno, and you can expect high energy, a great atmosphere, and lots of movement. Shuffle is basically cardio disguised as dance, your heart rate goes up while you’re having fun. This course is for beginners, and we take it step by step in a fun and supportive environment. Each week you’ll learn 1–2 steps and build on them through small combinations, while we gradually put together choreography as a group. In class, we work with elements from both Melbourne Shuffle and Cutting Shapes, giving you a broad understanding of the modern shuffle style and the chance to find your own flow and expression. You don’t need any dance experience to join — everyone is welcome and can learn at their own pace. Shuffle dance began in the rave scene in Melbourne in the late 80s and was danced to electronic music, especially techno. The shuffle we know today is a fusion of two dance styles: Melbourne Shuffle and Cutting Shapes. Melbourne Shuffle comes from the Australian rave culture and is known for steps like the Running Man and the T‑Step. Cutting Shapes has roots in the British house scene and focuses on fast, creative footwork and musicality. Today, shuffle is seen all over the world at festivals, in dance communities, and on social media. The culture is about freedom, creativity, community, and the joy of expressing yourself through music and movement. About the instructor: Reyhane (Rey) began her shuffle and Cutting Shapes journey in 2020 as a self‑taught dancer through Instagram and YouTube. Since then, she has attended shuffle retreats in Bali, trained internationally, and been part of shuffle communities in cities such as Barcelona.
